Yamarin 88 DC

The 88 DC is a glassfibre-reinforced polyester planing hull built by Inha Works Ltd, which has owned the Yamarin brand since 2017. Yamarin gives an overall length of 8.80 m, a beam of 2.95 m, a draught of 0.70 m and a weight of 2,420 kg, with a 300-litre fuel tank, a 45-litre fresh water tank and a 30-litre septic tank. The boat is certified to CE design category C for ten persons. No designer or design house is named by Yamarin or by any test consulted.

The distinguishing feature at launch was the two-cabin layout. The owner's cabin in the bow sleeps two and contains an electric WC with a wash basin; a guest cabin under the cockpit sole sleeps two more and has its own entrance, so neither cabin is reached through the other. Powerboat & RIB describes the under-sole berth as most usable by children. The cockpit has a G-shaped seating group for eight to ten, a galley with a cooker and a fresh water system, and a driver's console that can be specified with joystick control.

Power is a single extra-long-shaft Yamaha outboard. At launch the recommended band was 300-350 hp with the Yamaha F350 V8 as the maximum; for the 2020 season the rating was raised to 425 hp so that the direct-injected Yamaha XF425 XTO could be fitted, and yamarin.com now publishes a 300-450 hp band covering Yamaha's XF450 XTO. Yamarin quotes a top speed of 47 knots, and close to 50 knots with the XTO. Powerboat & RIB recorded 36 knots on a test boat with an F300 that it judged underpropped, and reported predictable handling and a soft ride.

The model premiered on 6 September 2018 and has been revised at least twice. For 2020 the power rating was raised and the boat was offered in Standard and Premium versions. For the 2023 season Yamarin gave it a new driver's console and pantry, more wood in the cabin furnishings, light grey upholstery and twin 16-inch Yamarin Q+ infotainment screens with Navionics charts as standard, and reduced the line-up to a single version with optional Deluxe and Touring packages. The 2026 brochure adds a stainless steel windscreen frame and light wooden detailing in the cabin.

The 88 DC is the largest boat in the Yamarin Cruise line and the only one with two cabins, sitting above the 80 DC. It is the model Yamarin uses to carry Yamaha's most powerful outboards.
