V8-380
The Volvo Penta V8-380 is a 380 hp 6.2-litre GM-based V8 marine petrol engine, the first of the current-generation Volvo Penta V8 range.
Launched around 2012 and the engine whose success prompted the V8-350 and V8-430 siblings announced in August 2013, the V8-380 uses a 6.2-litre (376 cu in) GM V8 with 103 x 92 mm bore and stroke and 11.5:1 compression - a higher compression and a higher full-throttle range, 5600-6000 rpm, than the 5.3-litre V8-300 and V8-350. It carries variable valve timing, closed cooling and Volvo Penta EVC electronic engine management. Sold as an Aquamatic sterndrive on the DPS twin-prop drive, in Forward Drive form, and as a straight inboard for tow-sports boats. It replaces the 8.1Gi in the range at a fraction of the weight.
