Nord Star 28+

The Nord Star 28+ is part of Nord Star's current '+' fleet, the successor generation to the 'Patrol' range that the Finnish builder Linex-Boat Oy of Kokkola produced for years. It replaced the 28 Patrol (in production from roughly 2004 to 2020) and, while it retains the same basic proven hull lines, it is a reworked design rather than a simple rebadge: sources describe new patented hull strakes for a smoother, quieter ride together with a significantly revised deck and accommodation layout, the most substantial change being a move to a conventional galley-down arrangement that relocates the galley below deck out of the wheelhouse.

The boat is a rugged all-weather pilothouse/walkaround cruiser, described in the press as a 'Finnish SUV' and go-anywhere pocket cruiser. Nord Star's spec sheet lists an LOA of 9.5 m, a beam of 3.1 m and a dry weight of about 4,500 kg, with a 585-litre fuel tank, a 135-litre water tank and a 95-litre holding tank. Accommodation is quoted as '2+2(+1)' berths across two cabins, with seven saloon seats plus a full-size toilet and galley, and a maximum recommended eight persons. The GRP hull carries an 18.3-degree transom deadrise and CE Design Category B certification.

Propulsion is normally a single Volvo Penta diesel on a DPI (Duoprop) sterndrive: options include the D4-320 and the D6 range (340, 380, 400 and 440 hp), with a Yanmar 8LV370 also offered. A single D6-340 gives around 34 knots with economical cruising; a twin-outboard option is also available and lifts the top speed toward the high 40s. Zipwake interceptors help the boat plane from about 12 knots and it holds a composed, quiet ride up to around 30 knots.
