Nord Star 49+

In production 2023–present

The Nord Star 49+ is the largest model and flagship of Finnish builder Nord Star (Linex-Boat Oy, Kokkola), a semi-custom GRP pilothouse motor cruiser aimed at all-weather offshore cruising. It replaced the earlier 49 SCY, carrying over the roughly 15.45 m hull while adopting Nord Star's '+' naming. The standard layout offers three full-beam cabins, two heads and berths for six to seven, and it is offered with Volvo Penta pod, sterndrive or shaft propulsion, with twin IPS pods giving a top speed around 36–37 knots (an optional triple sterndrive rig is quoted near 48 knots).

Nord Star, the boat brand of Linex-Boat Oy of Kokkola, Finland, positions the 49+ as its flagship and largest model, described by the yard as offering classy design, interior luxury, space and great sea-going qualities with three full-beam cabins and two heads. The manufacturer quotes an overall length of 15.45 m and a beam of 4.15 m, a dry weight of roughly 14,000 kg, a 342 L water tank, a 275 L holding tank and fuel capacity split as a 900 L main tank plus a 600 L tank (about 1,500 L total). Accommodation is given as berths 2+2+2(+1) with a maximum of 15 persons and CE Design Category B (offshore). The hull is hand-laminated GRP with hand-painted gelcoat.

The 49+ succeeds the 49 SCY (produced 2018–2022), Nord Star's 'Semi Custom Yacht', and uses the yard's '+' naming across the current range. It was first shown to press in 2023 and made its public world debut at the 2025 Southampton International Boat Show. Nord Star's UK options list for the NS49 offers two Volvo Penta IPS pod packages — 2 x IPS600 (2 x 440 hp) and 2 x IPS650 (2 x 480 hp) — with Volvo IPS joystick control standard; a flybridge is offered as a separate option/variant, covered on its own page.

In independent testing, YachtBuyer (reviewer Jack Haines) rated the boat 4.5/5 and highlighted its rough-weather ability, describing it as a comfortable ~30-knot cruiser topping out around 34–35 knots. Motor Boat & Yachting's 2025 first look noted the 49+ is available with shafts, sterndrives or pods — unusually offering shaft drive in its class — and reported an optional triple sterndrive rig said to reach around 48 knots, versus roughly 36 knots on the standard twin IPS650s. It is also offered as the 49+ Fly, a flybridge variant adding an upper deck of close to 20 m² with a twin helm, a large dinette, an outdoor wet bar and lounge/sunbathing space reached by a ladder from the aft deck; it shares the 49+ hull and drivetrain and made its public world debut at the 2025 Southampton International Boat Show.
