Nord Star

Handcrafted in Finland

Nord Star is a range of all-season pilothouse and walkaround motorboats built by the family-owned Finnish yard Linex-Boat Oy in Kokkola (Kälviä), Central Ostrobothnia. The Lindkvist family has built boats there across four generations: Sivert Lindkvist began making wooden fishing and work boats in the 1920s, the yard launched its first fibreglass boat — the Sea Star 660 — in 1984, and it has since built more than 4,000 GRP leisure, work, patrol and rescue craft in the 6–15 m class. The Nord Star brand grew out of that work at the turn of the 2000s — mould manufacturing began in 1998 and the first Nord Star was sold abroad, in Sweden, in 2000 — and became the yard's leisure marque of rugged, enclosed-wheelhouse cruisers built for year-round use in exposed northern waters. Successive models through the 2000s and 2010s carried the 'Patrol' name — the 24, 26, 28, 31, 36 and 42 Patrol — alongside the 49 SCY flagship, and the first outboard versions appeared in 2014. In 2020, under fourth-generation Simon Lindkvist — a boat designer at the yard from 2010 who became CEO that year — Nord Star relaunched its line under a new '+' naming scheme, beginning with the 28+. The current range spans the 26+, 28+, 31+, 33+, 36+, 42+ and 49+; the larger boats are also offered with a flybridge (Fly), and power runs from single Volvo Penta and Yanmar diesel sterndrives on the smaller hulls, through twin sterndrives, to Volvo Penta IPS pod drives on the flagships, with outboard options on the 26+ and 28+. Every boat keeps the Nord Star hallmark of an insulated, heated wheelhouse with side doors and a single-level walkaround deck.
