Sargo 33

In production 2016–present

The Sargo 33 is a Finnish all-weather pilothouse motorboat built by Sarins Båtar, launched in June 2016 and still in production. It is a walkaround, single-level-deck cruiser with a deep-V hull, two cabins and five berths, powered by single or twin Volvo Penta diesel sterndrives for 28–43 knots. It is aimed at year-round cruising couples and families who want a fast, enclosed, offshore-capable boat rather than a fair-weather sportsboat.

The Sargo 33 is a post-rebrand model: the yard traded as Minor until 9.6.2014, when Sarins Båtar launched the SARGO brand and the Minor Offshore 25–36 range was renamed. The 33 was launched in June 2016 at the Finnboat floating show and has no Minor-era predecessor — the builder's own timeline lists no Minor 33, the nearest models being the 34 WR of 2001 and the Minor Offshore 36 of 2012. It is sold as a standard boat and as the Sargo 33 Explorer, a trim variant with an anthracite hull, black stainless rails and black fittings; the manufacturer publishes identical dimensions, weight, tankage, berths and CE category for both.

The layout is a walkaround, single-level deck with high freeboard around a central wheelhouse. The forward cabin has a V-berth of two 80 x 200 cm berths, storage and a hanging locker, plus a head with an electric toilet and a separate shower cabinet. The middle cabin has a 200 x 200 cm berth the yard counts as three, giving 2 + 3 = 5 berths in two cabins; a full-height cabinet there can optionally be replaced by a second head with toilet and sink. The wheelhouse has two side doors, an aft door and opening rear window, a large sliding sunroof, a U-sofa with an electrically height-adjustable table, and a galley with sink and 80 l fridge.

Engines are Volvo Penta diesel sterndrives with DPI duoprop drives, hydraulic sterndrive and electric steering. The current specification lists a single D6-440 or twins: 2 x D4-230, 2 x D4-320, 2 x D6-340, 2 x D6-380 or 2 x D6-400, the last being maximum installed power at 800 hp. Quoted top speed range is 28–43 knots.

Reception has been positive. Motor Boat & Yachting's Dave Marsh tested a twin D6-370 boat in September 2016 at 40.6 knots and called it a cleverly designed, sporty and well-built boat that ventilates and opens up better than the smaller Sargo 31. A 2018 Danish test by Troels Lykke for motorbaadsnyt.dk recorded 41.2 knots on the Øresund with twin D6-370s and praised the wide side decks, high rails and all-year usability. Nick Burnham reviewed it for YachtBuyer in 2023, calling it practical, sturdy and cleverly designed.
