Sargo 25

In production 2008–2022

The Sargo 25 is a 7.85 m single-engine walkaround pilothouse motorboat built by Sarins Båtar in Finland, sold as the Minor Offshore 25 from 2008 until the brand was renamed Sargo on 9 June 2014. It was the smallest boat in the range, a sterndrive diesel rated CE category B. It is discontinued, and the 28 is now the smallest Sargo.

Sarins Båtar presented the Minor Offshore 25 in 2008 as the smallest member of its Minor Offshore range. A revised 25 followed in 2013 with two separate sleeping areas in place of the earlier single-cabin layout: the first boat was quoted at 7.75 m, 2.9 t and two berths, the later one at 7.85 m, 3200 kg and four. On 9 June 2014 Sarins Båtar launched the SARGO brand and the Minor Offshore 25–36 were rebranded, the 25 becoming the Sargo 25. It was sold in two trim levels, Sargo 25 and Sargo 25 Explorer, whose published technical data are identical; the Explorer added an anthracite hull, grey decks, black hardware and a glass-insert sunroof.

The boat is a single-level walkaround with a wheelhouse seating up to six adults, two lockable side doors, a large sliding sunroof and a large opening rear window. In the Sargo-era layout the forward cabin has a double berth and a separate head with a marine toilet and sink, and a middle cabin under the wheelhouse sofa holds a 120 x 200 cm double. Standard tankage is a 300 l diesel tank, a 30 l water tank and a 40 l holding tank; maximum capacity is six people and CE category is B.

Power is a single Volvo Penta diesel on a sterndrive; no twin option was offered. The 2021 specification lists three alternatives: D4-230 on a mechanical DPH drive with hydraulic steering, and D4-270 and D4-320 on hydraulic DPI drives with electric steering. Sargo quotes 33–38 knots top speed and 1.4 l/nm at 25 knots. Earlier boats were delivered with the previous-generation Volvo Penta D4 range, and both the 2011 and 2015 test boats ran a D4-260.

Motor Boat & Yachting tested the Minor Offshore 25 in 2011 and scored it 60%, praising the wheelhouse and sunroof but criticising the tight dinette and the jerrycan-style water tank. Norway's Båtens Verden tested a Sargo 25 Explorer in 2015, recording just over 35 knots and about one litre per nautical mile at 26 knots with a D4-260, and concluded it offered space and equipment normally reserved for larger pilothouse boats, while noting that the 6.10 m waterline sets limits in very steep seas.
