The Allseason Yacht
Sargo is a range of all-season pilothouse and walkaround motorboats built by Sarins Båtar Oy Ab in Kokkola, Finland. The company was founded in 1967 by Edy Sarin, a carpenter who built wooden interiors for Nautor's Swan yachts — he worked on the first Swan 36 — before building boats of his own. It introduced the Minor brand in 1976 with the Minor 650, and had built close to 2,000 boats under that name by 2012. On 9 June 2014 Sarins Båtar retired the Minor name and launched the Sargo brand, renaming the existing Minor Offshore 25–36 range; the stated reason was that 'Minor' did not work in English-speaking markets. A used Minor Offshore 25, 31 or 36 is therefore the same boat as the corresponding early Sargo, wearing the older badge. The current range spans the 28, 31, 33, 36 and 45. Each is offered in a standard form and as an Explorer, a trim variant with an anthracite hull and black hardware; the 36 and 45 are also sold with a flybridge (Fly), and the 28 and 31 with outboard power. All are hand-laminated GRP with an insulated, heated wheelhouse, side doors, a single-level walkaround deck and — the outboard versions aside — Volvo Penta diesel sterndrives, built for year-round use in Nordic conditions.
