Azimut 39

The Azimut 39 was the smallest boat in Azimut's flybridge line for most of its production life, a 12-metre planing motor yacht aimed at owners moving up from a sportscruiser who wanted a second steering position and a proper two-cabin interior without stepping into 45-foot running costs. It sat directly below the 42 and 46 in the Fly range and shared their styling language: exterior lines by Stefano Righini, interior by Carlo Galeazzi.

Two boats have worn the bare 39 badge. The first generation ran from 1998 to about 2006 and is the boat described here; it is the one almost every used listing means, and the one the marketplace's plain "39" entries date to. A lightly revised 39 Evolution followed for roughly 2006 to 2008, marginally longer on paper at about 39 ft 10 in, restyled in detail and normally sold with Cummins power. Azimut has also used 39 elsewhere in the same period on the Atlantis 39, a hard-top sportscruiser with no flybridge, which is a genuinely different boat and should not be confused with this one. Listings frequently write the flybridge boat as "39 Fly", which is the same model rather than a later one.

The hull and superstructure are GRP, with a V-bottom planing hull and a CE design category B. Below decks the layout is two cabins and two heads: a forward master with an island double and an en suite compartment with a separate shower, and a second cabin with two single berths amidships that uses the day head. That gives four permanent berths, with the saloon settee sometimes counted for occasional use. The saloon runs full width with a galley to one side, and the large elliptical side windows are the most recognisable feature of the profile. Aft is a teak cockpit with transom access, and the flybridge carries a second helm, a small settee and sunpads. Standing headroom below is roughly 1.95 m.

Power was always twin diesels on straight shafts, never sterndrives or pods. Early boats used the Caterpillar 3116, offered at 325 hp and 350 hp per engine; later first-generation boats moved to the Caterpillar 3126TA at 350 hp, and the Cummins QSB 5.9 at 355 hp appears on late boats and on the Evolution. Published figures put a 325 hp boat at about 28.8 knots flat out, with the 350 hp option reaching around 30 knots and cruising in the mid-twenties. Fuel is 1,000 litres and water 500 litres.

Dimensions are reported in two clusters and the difference is worth knowing: 12.06 x 4.02 m in English-language sources against 12.22 x 4.06 m in Italian broker listings, most likely hull figures versus overall length including the bathing platform and beam over the rubbing strake. Weight is similarly split, with roughly 12,000 kg quoted as displacement and about 14,600 kg as a full-load figure. Draft is consistently given as 1.10 m, though no source examined states explicitly whether that is measured to the propellers.
