Azimut Atlantis 47
The Atlantis 47 was the largest model in Azimut's Atlantis line of sport cruisers, built at the former Gobbi yard in Lavagna from the early 2000s. About 14.6 m long, it is a shaft-driven GRP planing boat with two en-suite cabins below and an open cockpit under a large sunroof, powered by twin Volvo Penta diesels of 480 to 575 horsepower.
The Atlantis 47 was the largest boat in the Atlantis line, the sport-cruiser range Azimut-Benetti set up around 2001-2002 after taking over the Gobbi yard's production facility at Lavagna. Atlantis was run as a separate marque, its first models derived from Gobbi designs, and it covered open and hardtop sports cruisers of roughly 34 to 58 feet while the Azimut name concentrated on flybridge yachts and larger craft. The 47 sat at the top of that range for most of its life. Early boats appear in the used market under several badges, including Gobbi Atlantis 47 and Azimut Gobbi Atlantis 47, which reflects the transition rather than a different hull.
The model was shown at the winter boat shows of 2002. Databases give a production span of 2002 to 2014, although the earliest hulls offered for sale are usually dated 2003, and the hardtop version becomes common in listings from about 2008. The exact end of production is not well documented; the range was later replaced by the current Atlantis models, which moved to Volvo Penta IPS pods.
Below deck the boat is a two-cabin, two-head layout: a master and a second double, each with its own compartment with shower, plus a saloon and galley area. Four permanent berths is the usual count, with convertible saloon berths and a small aft space raising the figure in some listings. Above deck the boat is an open sports cruiser with a deep cockpit, a large electric sunroof over the helm and dinette, a wet bar with grill, fridge and sink, and a sunpad aft over a tender garage. A fixed hardtop version was offered alongside the open boat.
Hull and superstructure are GRP over a planing V-bottom. Exterior styling is credited to Stefano Righini and the interior to Carlo Galeazzi, the two designers Azimut used across most of this period. The builder's data sheet gives CE design category B and a maximum of 14 people on board.
Two engine packages are documented, both Volvo Penta and both on conventional shafts. Earlier boats were fitted with a pair of TAMD75P diesels rated 480 hp each. Later boats, and the standard fit quoted in the Azimut brochure, use twin D9-575 units with EVC electronic controls, rated 423 kW, that is 575 metric horsepower or about 567 hp, giving 1,134 hp total. No pod or sterndrive option is recorded for this model. Speed claims in brokerage listings vary widely, from 26 knots cruise and 32 knots top on one 2008 hardtop to 30-32 knots cruise and 36-38 knots top on others; none of these come from a published instrumented test, so they should be treated as sellers' figures.
The boat was aimed at owner-drivers cruising the Mediterranean coast with four guests aboard, wanting a fast day and weekend boat with proper cabins rather than a full cruising yacht. Published weights disagree sharply: about 14,570 kg appears as a dry figure in listings, while the full-load displacement is given as 19,300 kg.
