MerCruiser

MerCruiser is Mercury Marine's sterndrive and petrol-inboard brand, not a separate company. It has been the inboard/outdrive counterpart to Mercury outboards since its 1961 launch.

MerCruiser launched at the 1961 Chicago Boat Show as Mercury's first production sterndrive over 100 hp. It is a product brand of Mercury Marine (a Brunswick division), not an independent manufacturer. The current drive family is Alpha One for lighter boats and Bravo One, Bravo Two, Bravo Three and the forward-facing Bravo Four S for heavier and twin-prop use. Current petrol engines are Mercury-designed marine blocks: 4.5 L V6 (200–250 hp sterndrive), 6.2 L V8 (300–350 hp sterndrive and inboard) and 8.2 L V8 (380–430 hp sterndrive; 375–425 hp inboard), plus dedicated tow-sport inboards. Diesel is sold as Mercury Diesel, listed beside MerCruiser but not under that name, and is profiled on the Mercury make.
