Bravo I

Mercury's own current spelling is 'Bravo One'; the roman-numeral form Bravo I is the older and widely used rendering, and is the spelling already on this make's drive row. The drive was designed to handle big-block engine power and replaced the heavy TR/TRS drives for high-performance sterndrive work, its cone-clutch shifting removing the separate transmission the TRS required. Distinguishing features are an extended-length torpedo to cut drag, a deep skeg giving a large rudder area for steering response at speed, and dual water pickups so large engines stay cool at high speed. MerCathode electronic corrosion protection and an in-hull power trim pump are standard across the Bravo range. Bravo One X and Bravo One XR are catalogued with it as heavier-duty members of the same family and are loaded as their own rows.
