Bravo II
A single-propeller Bravo drive with an extended case and large-diameter propeller shaft that swings props up to 20 inches, rated for petrol engines to 450 hp and diesel to 370 hp in twin installations up to about 55 mph.
Mercury's own current spelling is 'Bravo Two'. Where the Bravo I is built for speed, the Bravo II is built for load: the extra blade area of a 20-inch propeller produces the low-speed thrust that gets heavy hulls onto plane and keeps them there, at the cost of added drag. Mercury names houseboats and the heaviest cruisers as its intended applications. Petrol versions are the Bravo Two and Bravo Two X; diesel duty is covered by the Bravo Two X Diesel and Bravo Two XR Diesel.
