Nord West 370 Sport
The Nord West 370 Sport is the open-cockpit day cruiser version of the 11.8 m Nord West 370, with two cabins below, launched in late 2008 and built until 2013. Motor Boats Monthly tested it in 2009 with twin Volvo Penta D4-300 sterndrives and recorded 37.4 knots.
The Sport added an open sportscruiser to the 370 range after the Flybridge and Coupe. PowerYacht Blog dates its launch to about three months before the SportsTop's January 2009 debut, and the yard spec page gives the production years as 2009 to 2013.
The 370 hull was designed by Benny Martinsson, Nord West's owner and designer, and credited on the designer's own spec pages as 'Benny Martinsson, 2008'. PowerYacht Blog describes it as a variable-deadrise vee with a fine entry, drawn to work with both sterndrives and Volvo Penta IPS pods, and used unchanged under all four 370 versions: Flybridge, Coupe, Sport and SportsTop. All four share the yard's figures of 11.8 m length, 3.5 m beam, 1.2 m draft, about 9 tonnes, 800 l of fuel and 435 l of water, and the yard spec pages give 2008 or 2009 to 2013 as the production years.
The Sport has an open cockpit with a wet bar and an electric cockpit table. Below are a full-size owner's cabin forward with a large double berth and a midships guest cabin that can be set up as twin berths or a large double: two cabins with four berths, plus two more on the converted dinette, and one heads. Motor Boats Monthly found the interior identical to the SportsTop's, with a traditional mahogany fit-out, but thought there was less space than in some rival 37-footers. Air draught is 3.8 m, or 3.2 m with the radar arch lowered, and the RCD design category is B.
Motor Boats Monthly tested the Sport and SportsTop together in October 2009. Its figures were 37.4 knots and about 9 tonnes displacement with twin Volvo Penta D4-300 sterndrives, at GBP 298,617 as tested. It preferred sterndrives, which came with Volvo's new Aquamatic joystick, over the IPS option, scored the boat 80% and praised what it called probably the best standard specification in the world. PowerYacht Blog's list of engines for the SportsTop, which it describes as the Sport with a hardtop, runs from D4-260 and D4-300 sterndrives to a D6-370 good for about 40 knots, plus IPS400.
