Finngulf 43

I produktion 2008–2011 Formgiven av Farr Yacht Design

The Finngulf 43 (2008-2011) is a 13.1 m cruiser-racer designed by Farr Yacht Design for IRC and IMS racing, the last new Finngulf before the yard closed. It has a lead bulb keel of up to 2.62 m draft.

Finngulf turned to Farr Yacht Design (design no. 620) for a 43-footer to race under IRC and IMS while remaining usable as a cruiser. It was launched in 2008 and built until the yard went bankrupt in 2011; the new owners of the brand in 2013 did not plan to continue it.

Vene's 2008 test gives 13.10 m length, 11.58 m waterline, 4.07 m beam, drafts of 2.62 m or 2.20 m, and a displacement of 8,290 kg with the deep keel (3,759 kg ballast) or 8,490 kg with the shallow one. The boat has three double cabins and two heads, with a light, modern interior Vene called avant-garde. The engine is a Yanmar diesel of about 40 hp on a saildrive; one 2009 boat for sale lists a 50 hp Yanmar 4JH4.

Vene's testers called it a full-blooded racer, recording 8.2-8.5 knots on a spinnaker reach and a tacking angle of about 70 degrees. The British-registered Luna Tick won the Lloyds Bank Trophy as first ISC-rated boat to finish the 2009 Round the Island Race.
