Saxdor 200 Pro Sport

The Saxdor 200 was the first model from Saxdor Yachts, which Sakari Mattila founded in 2019. It was launched in Finland in March 2020 as the 200 Sport and was pitched as a crossover between a small open boat and a personal watercraft. It was offered in two trims: the 200 Sport with Mercury outboards of 100-150 hp, and the 200 Pro Sport with 150 or 175 hp, trim tabs, a leather sports wheel, electronic throttle and shift, and bonded soft decking on the bow. Motor Boat & Yachting credits the design to Mattila together with J&J Design. In 2022 the model was revised as the Saxdor 205, while the 200 itself stayed in the range.

The vacuum-infused GRP hull has a plumb bow, two steps and a deep V (21 degrees according to the yard, 22.5 degrees at the transom according to MBY). The yard gives a weight of 780 kg without engine and the owner's manual a 110-litre fuel tank, or roughly 1,000 kg with engine and full fuel, light enough to tow. A centre console sits between narrow side decks. The foredeck is one large hatch over a full-length locker that stores the sunbed cushions. With a camper-style tent it serves as an occasional berth for two. Seating aft is either a jockey seat or a bench whose backrest flips to face the stern for watching skiers.

On test with the Mercury 175 V6 Pro XS, Totalvene recorded 44.8 knots at 5,800 rpm and Power & Motoryacht recorded 45 knots at 5,800 rpm. P&MY measured 34.3 knots at 4,500 rpm on 9.8 gph as its cruise figure. Boating NZ also reached 45 knots with the 175 and measured about 1.2 nm per litre above 30 knots. With a 150 hp Mercury, MBY recorded 38.8 knots and Canadian Yachting 48 mph at 5,350 rpm. BOOTE compared a 100 hp 200 Sport (31.9 knots) with a 175 hp Pro Sport (43.7 knots).

The Saxdor 200 Sport was named European Powerboat of the Year 2021, won 'Best for Beginners' at the Best of Boats Awards 2020 and was Highly Commended at the Motor Boat Awards 2021.
