Finngulf 391

In production 1982–2005 Designed by Håkan Södergren

The Finngulf 39/391 is Håkan Södergren's 12 m fractional sloop, built from 1982 to 2005 and, with 109 boats, the most-produced Finngulf. It began as the Crown 39 and was reworked in 1990 as the 391.

The boat started life as the Crown 39: Finngulf built Crown's hulls and decks and then took over the moulds, selling it as the Finngulf 39 from the early 1980s. A new deck was introduced in 1990, with changes to rig, keel, rudder and interior, and the boat was then sold as the 391 until about 2005. A deckhouse version, the 391 DH (1999-2002), was built in three examples.

The yard gives 11.97 m length, 9.20 m waterline, 3.54 m beam, 1.95 m draft (1.75 m shallow keel), 6,500 kg displacement and 2,750 kg of lead ballast. The 1985 brochure describes a hand-laminated GRP sandwich hull, a teak interior with a forepeak, a saloon with three berths, an aft double cabin and a heads with shower, and a 28 hp Volvo Penta 2003 on a saildrive with a 100 l stainless diesel tank. Later 391s were offered with two or three cabins, and boats from around 2000 have the 40 hp MD2040.

Södergren credits the 39 with two Gotland Runt wins. Vene magazine sailed the 39 in 1986 and the 391 in 1998.
