Finngulf 34

Tuotannossa 1980–1984 Suunnittelija Håkan Södergren

The Finngulf 34 (1980-1984) is Håkan Södergren's IOR three-quarter-tonner, the first Finngulf, built around the 1981 3/4 Ton World Cup in Helsinki. Fourteen were built according to Finngulf.

Finngulf was founded in 1981 to build this boat. Håkan Södergren designed the 34 to the IOR rule for the 3/4 Ton World Cup sailed in Helsinki in 1981, drawing on his half-tonners, and the prototype Matriarch (L-2110) was one of the boats built for that event. Finngulf's later history says it placed well and was the fastest Scandinavian entry; the owners' club and Södergren's own site add Fastnet and Gotland Runt wins, which no independent source found here confirms. Production ran to 1984, with 14 boats on the yard's model page and roughly 20 in its history text.

The 34 is a 10.43 m fractional sloop with a fin keel and spade rudder, 3.26 m beam, 1.88 m draft and about 4,400 kg displacement, of which 2,100 kg is ballast. The original engine recorded by sailboatdata is an 18 hp Volvo Penta 2002. The moulds were later used by Matti Moisio in Kaarina for the Sea King 34, which Hans Groop gave a deeper 2.05 m keel.
