A Hallberg-Rassy is a safe investment – yesterday, today and tomorrow!

Hallberg-Rassy is a Swedish sailing yacht builder based in Ellös on the island of Orust, north of Gothenburg. The company traces its lineage to a boatyard Harry Hallberg (1914-1997) opened in 1943 at Kungsviken, on the same island, where he later pioneered serial production of fibreglass sailboats in Sweden in the early 1960s. Christoph Rassy (1934-2021), a boatbuilder from Bavaria who had settled in Sweden around 1960, bought Hallberg's original Kungsviken premises in the mid-1960s and built his own yachts there, including the Rasmus 35 designed by Olle Enderlein. Hallberg and Rassy ran separate, competing yards for years and were never business partners; when Hallberg retired in 1972, Rassy acquired his larger Ellös facility and combined the two operations under the name Hallberg-Rassy, keeping the Hallberg name for its established market recognition. The merged company has remained privately owned by the Rassy family since 1972. Magnus Rassy, Christoph's son, has run it as managing director since 2003, as the second generation of family leadership. Since the late 1980s, Hallberg-Rassy's yachts have been designed by the Argentine naval architect Germán Frers, who succeeded earlier designers commissioned by the yard, including Olle Enderlein and Christoph Rassy himself. Over its history the yard has delivered close to 9,800 boats to customers in more than 70 countries. Hallberg-Rassy builds cruising monohull sailboats known for solid GRP construction, moderate displacement, protected center cockpits, and Scandinavian joinery below decks, aimed at long-distance and bluewater cruising rather than racing. As of 2026 the current range built at the Ellös yard includes the 340, 370, 400, 40C, 44 Mk II, 50, 57 and 69 models.
